ANNUAL CONFERENCE ABROAD
In recent years, the MCCIEC has offered annual professional development conferences abroad. These conferences offer community college faculty and staff from all over Maryland the opportunity to share knowledge and strategies related to study abroad, field trips, and other forms of global learning — while honing their skills as faculty leaders in a real-time group travel context.
Current and past conferences abroad:
- January 2021 Conference in Paris and Rennes, France: The Business of Study Abroad (Canceled due to travel bans)
- January 2020 Conference in Prague, Czech Republic: The Meaning of Citizenship in Tumultuous Times
- January 2019 Conference in Costa Rica: Global Learning Across the Curriculum
- January 2018 Conference in London and Swansea, United Kingdom: Strategic Partnerships for Global Learning
- January 2017 Conference in Iceland: Maximizing Instruction for Global Learning
- Spring Break 2016 Forum in Havana, Cuba: Effective On-Site Teaching for Global Awareness
LOCAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The MCCIEC also offers local professional development opportunities for community college faculty and staff members across Maryland, sometimes in partnership with another statewide consortium of international educators, the MIEC. Examples of current and recent events include the following:

- MCCIEC-MIEC Joint Symposium on Faculty-Led Study Abroad in Baltimore, MD, on November 22, 2019
